1. What type of housing does Edenton offer?
Our community includes 76 Independent living cottages with
ground floor entrances that can be wheelchair accessible.
We have five different floor plans from which to select and
a service package, which residents may tailor to fit their
personal needs. Our three Assisted living residences offer
45 individuals the opportunity to receive assistance with
their activities of daily living, three meals per day, housekeeping
and individualized care with 24-hour staff supervision.
2. Because Edenton is a retirement community, must one be
a certain age to reside in the community?
Edenton is a residential rental community for older adults.
We do provide housing to individuals who are eighteen years
of age and older. Therefore, the Edenton neighborhood consists
of young and older adults living together in a warm and friendly
environment that promotes the highest quality of life and independence
possible.
3. What types of services are available to independent living
Residents?
A service plan may include such item as: Meal Plans, Personal
Assistance, Housekeeping, Linen & Laundry, Transportation,
Personal Shopping, Beauty/Barber, Pet Walking, Crafts & Activities,
Medication Supervision.
4. How do I learn more about the Edenton Community?
Edenton encourages individuals to contact the Administrative
office and speak to our Director of Community Services. We
can schedule a time to meet with you at your convenience
and discuss housing options, services and take a tour of
our community. A resident application can be obtained and
the process reviewed with you during your visit. Walk ins
are welcome. The Administrative office is open 8a.m.- 5 p.m. You

5. What levels of care are offered in Assisted Living and
how are the levels
of care determined?
Edenton follows the three levels of care
that are mandated by the state of Maryland. The level of care
for each individual is determined by utilizing the Authorization
for Admission form, which is completed by the resident’s
primary care practitioner and Edenton’s nursing staff.
The information from the Authorization for Admissions form
is then placed on the Level of Care guide and a numeric score
is obtained which places the person in Level I, II or III.
Individualized care plans are prepared for each resident to
foster their independence while allowing them to receive the
assistance they require.
6. How do I pay for my stay
at Edenton?
Independent living housing and assisted living is leased and
paid on a private pay basis. A one time non- refundable
community fee is collected at the commencement of the one year
lease. Medicare and Medicaid does not cover costs of services
provided at Edenton’s Independent living or Assisted
Living. For persons with a long-term care insurance policy,
you are encouraged to speak with your insurance provider regarding
your specific policy and reimbursement for services or
care provided by Edenton.
7. May I bring a pet to live with me?
Pets are welcome to live with our Independent living residents.
Residents pay a one time non-refundable pet fee and are requested
to adhere to the Edenton Pet Agreement. The Pet Agreement
can be reviewed upon a visit to our community. Assisted living
residents may also have a pet once an assessment has been
completed to determine the appropriateness of such a pet.
8. May I bring my own furniture in Assisted living?
Yes. The Assisted living rooms can be furnished by Edenton
with a twin bed, bedside table and a chest of drawers. You
may use certain furnishings provided by Edenton and/or furnish
the room with your own belongings. Residents are encouraged
to decorate their rooms and add their personal touch.
9. Can I keep my own physician if I move to Edenton?
You may continue to visit your physician after moving to Edenton.
Your family/ significant other may take you the appointment.
At your request, Edenton can provide transport to/from your medical
appointments at a fee for service charge.
